Alternate Universe Characters are characters that already existed in one form or another outside the Vultroverse.
For example, this may be a character canon to Sonic or other franchises, or an original character created by other users. Due to the collaborative nature of Vultroverse stories, these characters are "adopted" into a Vultroverse-specific variant, to allow for better lore integration and development.
This category also includes characters that joined in cooperative roleplay stories while the Vultroverse existed on the Sonic Fanon Wiki.
In the case of original characters, inclusion of a character is only done with the creator's express permission. In subsequent stories, any mention of said character is kept minimal unless further permission is obtained.
