Vultro the Fennec is an anthropomorphic fennec fox that debuted in the Roleplay Planet Elilaela.
Physical Appearance
Vultro resembles a fennec fox (Vulpes zerda), though he is technically a Silverfox/Fennec mix. His large ears are a trademark of the fennec species. His body fur is a light tan color, and the tuft of fur on his head and on his chest are both white. He sports white gloves and a grey pair of Converse-like sneakers.
Vultro is very small, standing at barely over a foot tall and weighing in at 5lbs. However, he uses his size to his advantage: he can run at incredible speeds and can access areas not normally reachable by other animals.
Personality
Vultro is an adventurous fox, never shying from the opportunity to explore a new planet or conquer a new villain. He is also quite charming, managing to convince nine of his friends to go on an adventure through space with him despite their qualms. However, he is also very impulsive. He usually does not think of the consequences of his actions, which earns him a reputation of always causing trouble. He also often asserts himself as the leader of the group, despite that not always being true.
History
Vultro has a very mysterious past. Whether he does not prefer to reveal his origins or simply does not remember them, his childhood is not very well known. He was born on South Island on Mobius, the son of a Fennec father named Obelus and a Silverfox mother named Lily. Though he remembers his parents, both passed away sometime when Vultro was four. (In reality, his father's alter ego murdered his mother and fled.) He claims to have ran away and lived on his own from that point on. His father was an adventurer like he was, and Vultro claims that the main reason he explores is to honor the legacy of his father and make him proud.
During his early childhood, he would often visit Green Hill Zone, looking up to Sonic the Hedgehog as a role model. At the age of six, the zone was overrun by Dr. Robotnik's Badniks, but he avoided being captured and hid in nearby caves until Sonic was able to defeat him. Two years later, during the events of Sonic Mania, Vultro witnesses Dr. Robotnik teleport Sonic to Green Hill Zone and create another Badnik army. Though he felt he could join in this time and help, Vultro was still only 8 years old, and his new friend RavenCool managed to talk some sense into him.
At the age of 13, Vultro assisted Wreck the Fox in taking down local Badnik uprising, something that could be considered his first real adventure. It was later revealed to have not been the work of Dr. Robotnik, though the story documenting the adventure has since been lost, leaving some details uncertain.
After his first "real" adventure with Wreck, Vultro convinced eight of his friends to ride a new spaceship that he built himself. Though most were reluctant to ride in his makeshift spacecraft, they came along anyway. The events that followed has been documented in a roleplay. Even after barely returning home safely, Vultro continued to go on more adventures, encountering and battling his father multiple times along the way.
Vultro passed away at the age of 54, due to exposure to the Shoten crystal he held decades prior. Though it had been destroyed by that point, Vultro's possession of a shard of the crystal allowed his soul to remain contained inside of it temporarily, allowing him to return and subsequently contact his deceased mother before embarking on one final adventure with his friends.
Relationships
- RavenCool the Sol Grey Wolf: Both being adventurers, Vultro gets along with her well. They met while on an adventure through Green Hill Zone and have since been close friends. She is the first one Vultro asks to go on the adventure leading up to Planet Elilaela. He was for a long time attracted to her but chose instead to give up his feelings and remain close friends.
- Wreck the Fox: Due to his chaotic nature, Wreck is not Vultro's closest friend, but he proves to be a great ally in battle. Vultro met Wreck sometime prior to the events of The Secret of Robots, after which he agrees to travel with Wreck and his friends to fight a new Badnik uprising.
- Jenny the Fox: After meeting Vultro via a trip to the Sol dimension with RavenCool, the two have remained in touch. Their friendship improved after their adventures on Elilaela, but since then the two have not really spoken.
- Spark the Hedgecat: Spark always seemed to be the odd one out in Vultro's friend group. After being Vultro's last choice out of the group, Spark proves his usefulness on Planet Elilaela when he transforms into a dolphin to prevent Vultro from drowning. Vultro was thankful for the action, and gained a newfound respect for Spark.
Abilities
Since a young age, Vultro has been honing his running skills. He is the fastest out of all his friends, and his small size allows him to jump high and climb walls with ease. Along with his running and jumping skills, he can distract his enemies with his extreme agility, running circles around them until they are dizzy and vulnerable.
Using the power of the Shoten crystal, a mysterious stone found on the planet Elilaela, Vultro can assume a more powerful form. Comparable to the Chaos Emeralds' Super form, Vultro gains a massive boost in speed, jump height, and strength. His fur glows a bright shade of purple, and his chest fur turns a platinum color. He becomes fast enough to create a vacuum around an enclosed space, effectively suffocating anyone inside. He can also float above the ground. He and others who take on this form call it the Shoten Form.
Weaknesses
Like many small creatures, his main weakness is enemies of a similar size. Since he trains on larger, slower targets, smaller enemies can sometimes outsmart him. He is also incapable of swimming, and will drown if he spends too long underwater.
