"We won't have enough money to hire him."—Sam Raimi, asked about future films
Aleksei Mikhailovich Sytsevich (アレクシー・シセビク Arekushii Shisebiku), also known as the Red Devil, is a former Russian hitman and one of the main antagonists of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man: Army of Ghosts. The character was created entirely by AI Dungeon, by asking it for various details.
In the film, he is portrayed by Russell Crowe.
History
A former second-generation Russian mafia hitman, Sytsevich was hired after the fall of the Soviet Union as an enforcer for hire by the terrorist group Crimson Dawn. He became infamous in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Vladivostok for his brutality, leading to him being known as the "Red Devil," and gained a reputation as the most feared hitman in all of Eastern Europe.
By the year 2020, he had been sent by leader Johann "The Boss" Blazkowicz to New York City to research mind-control technology. He was sent to the Osborn Corporation and stole plans related to Norman Osborn's original Goblin Formula. Based on Osborn's research, and with the help of disgraced scientist Martin Wells, he was able to formulate a mind-control gas called NOZ.
Trivia
- According to Raimi, Crowe was too expensive to hire for more than one movie and Sytsevich will not be returning in future films.
