The Infinity Gems (originally referred to as Soul Gems and later as Infinity Stones) are a set of powerful gems, named after and embodying various aspects of existence. The gems can grant whoever wields them various powers in accordance to the aspect of existence they represent, and have the potential of turning the wielder into a god-like being when held together.

In the Vultroverse, their power is somewhat lessened, likely due to the existence of other gems such as the Chaos Emeralds and Sol Emeralds.

Vultroverse

The gems were originally reduced to atoms after the events of the Super Genesis Wave, going undiscovered for their entire existence. However, thanks to the events of Vultro and the Spider-Women, Dr. Eggman becomes aware that his universe previously had such gems.

Dr. Eggman, eager to obtain the power of the gems, travels back in time and sparks a war in the early 21st century. They soon come to be known as the Infinity Emeralds.

The emeralds are named after different aspects of music.

Tempo - Manipulates and controls time. Color is lime green.
Groove - Reveals hidden knowledge about living beings. Color is sky blue.
Timbre - Temporarily alters the appearance of objects. Color is red.
Harmony - Influences and controls minds. Color is golden yellow.
Melody - Draws and amplifies natural power from the surrounding environment. Color is purple.
Metre - Manipulates and controls matter. Color is pearl white.

There was also the Rhythm Emerald. This was a fake pink-colored emerald created by the Avengers as a distraction to Dr. Eggman. It was claimed to control the distance between points in space, a power actually possible with a combination of the other stones. The tendency for gems of power to come in groups of seven was enough to fool Eggman temporarily.

As it turns out, the Shoten Crystal is also compatible with the stones, creating a pseudo seventh stone called the Dynamics Emerald. It is capable of amplifying the power of the Infinity Emeralds to the scale of their power in other universes (i.e., total universal control.)

Trivia

Though Infinity Stones are usually unique to Marvel Comics universes, the hybrid nature of the Vultroverse allows for them to exist alongside other powerful Sonic gems, such as the Chaos Emeralds and Shoten Crystal.
